The mission of the Idaho High School Activities Association is to coordinate, supervise, and direct interscholastic activities which enhance and protect the total educational process of all student participants. All activities programs shall be formulated to promote citizenship and the academic mission of the school.

2006 Interscholastic Stars

Student Recognition Scholarship Awards


Five Idaho high school juniors have been named as the 2006 recipients of the Interscholastic Star Student Recognition Scholarships, which are awarded annually by the Idaho High School Activities Association and its official sponsor, The United Dairymen of Idaho.

Krista Bustamante, Sugar-Salem High School, Trevor Guthrie, Bonneville High School, Megan Parrish, Jerome High School, Victoria Sifford, Lakeside High School and Ian Turner, Coeur d’Alene High School were selected from a field of ninety-six outstanding students who were nominated by their high school principals. Twenty-four semifinalists and eight finalists were selected in a two-step screening process. Other finalists were Court Alfrey, Kellogg High School, Megan Loosli, North Fremont High School and Koryl Wadsworth, Oakley High School.

Interscholastic Stars will receive a $1000 scholarship to the college of his/her choice, and will be recognized at the IHSAA Hall of Fame banquet in Boise on August 2. The United Dairymen of Idaho will also contribute $1000 to the recipients’ schools and $500 to the finalists’ schools.

Krista Bustamante, daughter of Maria & Dagoberto Bustamante, participates in soccer, drama, speech and debate at Sugar-Salem High School. She is also active in National Honor Society, BPA, Latino Club and FFA. Krista will represent Sugar-Salem at Girls State this summer.

Trevor Guthrie, son of Myrna and Trenton Guthrie, participates in cross country, track and audition choirs at Bonneville High School. His other activities include Student Council, National Honor Society, and ballroom dance. Trevor is also a Natural Helper at BHS.

Megan Parrish, daughter of Debra and David Parrish, participates in volleyball, basketball, track and competitive speech at Jerome High School. She is also a very active member of Student Council and participates in several school clubs and community service organizations.

Victoria Sifford, daughter of Dawn and Paul Sifford, participates in volleyball, basketball, track, and band at Lakeside High School. Among her many activities are National Honor Society, student council, BPA, and Natural Helpers. She has served as this year’s student body president.

Ian Turner, son of Diane and Steve Turner, participates in football, wrestling and wind ensemble at Coeur d’Alene High School. He is also an active member of National Honor Society and Student Council, and serves on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.

School nominees for the Interscholastic Star scholarships are exemplary students who participate in IHSAA-sponsored sports and activities. Each application includes a student essay, recommendations from school personnel, a descriptions of academic accomplishments, and service to school and community.
